Those earthy tones and deeper shadows are prevalent on Instagram for a reason. They feel honest, warm and full of emotions – perfect for at home newborn photography.

The first baby came to the studio with a record number of themes outfits (no honestly they were all there, the bumble bee, the firefighter, the caterpillar, the aviator… tons of them). The second baby came to the studio for plain natural newborn pictures and now we have photographed baby number 3 at home. All mums are different and yet in so many way we follow very similar patterns. We are different mums to baby number one compared to the following babies, it can’t be any other way, we have no experience when we have that first baby. But over time, as that first child grows up we become aware of our true values, and make choices based on that.

I don’t doubt that we all take lots of pictures of our new baby, but having someone else come into your space and capture it for you – to capture it with you is completely different. It is no longer your solve responsibility to make these pictures happen and you can now effortlessly be in some of these memories.
You can be in as much or as little as you like, just that gentle hand and soft touch speak volumes in a picture, you don’t have to look and smile to the camera. At home pictures tend to be a little bit darker so you can hide away in those shadows as much as you like 😉
